Umberto Chiummo adds an important role to his repertoire,
singing Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola
at the Glyndebourne Festival

 

Umberto Chiummo

Won the "A. Belli” Competition in Spoleto, he made his debut in Le Nozze di Figaro, staged by Gigi Proietti. Much appreciated also for his qualities as an actor, he performs in major opera houses and festivals in Italy and abroad, collaborating with conductors such as Ivor Bolton, Bruno Campanella, Myung-Whun Chung, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti and Wolfgang Sawallisch. Recent engagements include: La Calisto at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Agrippina at the Teatro Real in Madrid with Alan Curtis, Giulio Cesare alongside Cecilia Bartoli with William Christie and Les Arts Florissants in Paris. He has recorded Don Giovanni (Telarc), I Capuleti e i Montecchi (BMG) with Roberto Abbado, Werther (BMG) under the baton of Vladimir Jurowski.

 

Among his future plans it is worth mentioning Agrippina at the Vlaamse Opera in Antwerp.
